In the 6th episode of the series, I sat down with neuroscientist-turned-business owner, Olivia Wollenberg, the 30-year-old Founder of Livia’s (formerly Livia’s Kitchen) who just so happens to be a particularly prominent inspiration of mine.
Having launched her company – renowned for it’s vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free sweet treats – in her parents’ kitchen four years ago, Livia’s has grown by 153% year on year, turning over seven figures comfortably in 2018. Now stocked in over 2000 highstreet stores UK-wide, I sat down with Olivia last fortnight to chat about how she launched her company in the first place and what managing growth like that looks and feels like in reality behind the scenes.
Discussing everything from how she’s had to learn on the job how to manage an ever growing team; the negative backlash she faced on social media when her site crashed after thousands of fans flocked to her website to order an exclusive Livia’s advent calendar (and what she’d do differently if the situation were to repeat itself today); the various fires she’s had to put out in her business since launching (and why she now knows that she can handle any obstacles that arise going forward as a result); to her recently launched Better Treat Yourself campaign and why she’s changed her self-care routine in recent months to ensure that she’s the best possible CEO that she can be; Olivia’s approach to running a business has been an inspiration since long before I launched She can. She did. and this brief chat with her only reinforced why that is so…
